    Overage is one of those Your-Mileage-May-Vary things. My store used to adjust down every coupon manually in order not to allow for overage, even if it was a penny. Nowadays, they just scan the coupons, and the register reads it in as face value. The overage goes against my grocery balance. I've never gotten money out of the till from Publix, so plan your purchases to absorb any overage.
